Two Powerful Engines
The new 2018 Hyundai Kona will arrive soon at the Surgenor Group’s Surgenor Hyundai dealership. Fuel-efficient and a blast to drive, it’s also incredibly spacious with a style that will turn heads. Here are three things to know about the new 2018 Hyundai Kona.
Eventually, we will get a Hyundai Kona electric motor that can reach nearly 500 kilometres without consuming gasoline. For the moment, however, we get two engines that are equally impressive. The first is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque.
This engine is the entry-level engine while a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine is also in the catalogue. This engine develops 175 horsepower and is paired with a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. The new Hyundai Kona is the only SUV in its class to offer this type of gearbox. It can reach 100 km/h in less than 8.0 seconds.
Built on a Very Rigid Structure
The 2018 Hyundai Kona is built on a structure called Superstructure that we have already seen on the new Hyundai Elantra. This new structure is 32% stiffer thanks to the extensive use of high strength steel. This translates into better road handling, better safety, more comfort and better fuel economy.
Adjust Its Behavior on the Road
The 2018 Hyundai Kona will feature Drive Mode Select, a system that offers a variety of driving modes that can be used to change how the Kona behaves out on the road. It is indeed possible to improve fuel economy with the ECO mode or get a sportier or more comfortable ride as well.
